Wondering where to get your Vancouver tire change done this winter? How about your front door?

With the arrival of my new winter wheels and tires came a search for where to get my Vancouver tire change done. I landed on Hermont Tire and couldn’t be happier with the service and experience. Here’s why.

Mobile Tire Service

Hermont Tire is different in that it’s strictly a mobile service. This means they come to you and your car. Instead of driving around town or calling to schedule a slot at a traditional tire shop, if you can get one, Hermont Tire can do your lower mainland or Vancouver tire change largely without your interaction. This is an incredible time-saver and I was keen to try it out.

My Hermont Tire Experience

Initially, I came across Hermont Tire when they did a mobile detailing on my car. This was a goodwill gesture by Tesla to right some of the wrongs I experienced on delivery day. Interestingly, I would later find that owner-operator Evan, who is a former Tesla service advisor, may have been instrumental in getting some of my issues addressed. More on that later.

I was impressed by the detailing work and service so I reached out when it came time for my Vancouver tire change.

Booking a Mobile Service

To be honest, it was actually my neighbour (who owns a Model 3) that pushed me towards mobile service. He had just got his tires swapped and said he did it early as last year he had to scramble to find a place to do it. With that slight panic, I pulled up Hermont Tire’s website and scheduled an afternoon slot.

Since my wheels and tires were brand new, my service request included TPSM sensor installation and swapping the tires. Since I have minimal storage in my condo parkade, I also requested storage for my summer wheels. This storage includes cleaning and patching if required. They can also fix curb rash while they have your wheels for an additional charge.

Service Day

Since I requested the sensors to be installed, Evan arrived in a large Ford Transit van with a wheel clamp and tire changer mounted in the back. This van wouldn’t fit in the garage so service was done around the corner on a quiet street. Going forward, I will only need to have the tires swapped which means they can bring their smaller service van and do the work in my parkade.

After driving the car around the corner, Evan got to work. He was incredibly fast yet happy to answer my many questions. Being a former Tesla advisor, I had plenty. I came to find that Evan has a strong appreciation for customer service which ironically pushed him out of the Tesla service advisor role. He saw many holes and Tesla just wasn’t cutting it so he decided to fill some of them through his new venture.

It’s unfortunate Tesla lost somebody like Evan. The company needs more attention on the customer service side of things. That said, I’m happy to see he’s putting his knowledge and passion to good use and helping Tesla owners in a different way.

Sensor and tire installation took around 40-minutes. Again, going forward this will take less time and I won’t even need to be present. I could literally park outside or give them access to my parkade and away they go. How great is that?

Mobile Tire Service Cost

Although this premium service comes at a cost, it really is comparable to a traditional shop. Sensor install and tire swap came to $200. Storage for the season is $99. The savings in time, however, is priceless.
